MMC understands that individual and collective efforts at supporting and preserving our environment are becoming an increasingly important aspect of responsible business practice. We believe that we are able to make a difference to our environment through actively seeking out and participating in activities which not only ensure we reduce our own carbon footprint, but assist to stimulate conscious participation from our team members, vendors and clients.

MMC is a registered partner of Dell and as such we actively promote their technologies. Dell is the undisputed leader within the drive toward 'green computing' and has developed the

'Dell Earth' initiative aimed at ensuring that environmentally responsible consideration is given to all stages of a Dell product's lifecycle - extending from the initial design and engineering stages through to packaging and recycling.

By reducing the quantity of printed paper generated by our organisation, we believe that we are able to make a substantial difference to the amount of waste we produce. MMC shreds all waste paper we generate and delivers this to local paper recycling depots.
Digital Forms and Invoices

MMC advocates the submission of digital instead of printed invoices where possible. We are also investigating the implementation of Digital Forms in a bid to actively reduce the storage of paper documentation.

The technology behind modern LCD (flat-screen) monitors has improved dramatically over the last few years. They are becoming more affordable and provide equal, if not enhanced screen resolutions to that of CRT monitors. A CRT monitor draws between 85-95 watts whilst running and about 6W during standby, as opposed to an LCD monitor which draws between 1/3 and 1/2 as much. At MMC we utilise LCD monitors and ensure that all desktop computers not required for after hours monitoring and maintenance are switched off in the evenings and on weekends. We utilise only power-efficient servers and ensure that our hardware is updated on a regular basis to ensure we are utilising the most efficient technologies available.

At the outset of our service relationship with clients, MMC provides a detailed audit of all hardware and software technologies in use by our client. Within this audit, energy efficient hardware can be identified and this information utilised as part of our clients Eco-strategy. Where Hardware needs to be replaced, MMC provides our clients with energy efficient options that will not only assist to reduce their carbon footprint, but will also result in a substantial reduction of their energy costs.

MMC publishes an electronic newsletter that is sent to clients every month providing a convenient source of tangible, industry related information that adds value to our client. A segment of this newsletter is dedicated to 'green computing' with a view to providing our clients with practical information regarding responsible computing that they can utilise.
